How far back can standard urine tests detect marijuana?
I’m doing a report on marijuana on college campuses. During one of my interviews, one student had mentioned that because they had smoked marijuana about 2 months prior to getting a job offer, they failed the drug test and didn’t get the job. My question is about how far back can a standard urine tests that normal businesses perform detect marijuana?

Marijuana is very persistent in the body as it’s fat-soluble. It can be detected in urine (and hair) up to about 90 days after it was last taken although for most legal purposes (in the UK at least) 30 days is the normal accepted limit.

For someone who only uses rarely, the test will become negative after about 2 weeks. If someone uses every day, it may take up to 1 month for the test to become negative. 2 months is much longer than I have ever heard of, and if true, that person must have been a serious smoker.
