Can a background check find juvenile records?
Im going to college to become a pharmacy technician, but before i can recieve my license, a background check has to be done. I had a marijuana ticket when i was 17 so i was a minor at the time. Now im 19 years old, can that record still be available through a background check and if found can it be used against me? I called the courthouse and they couldent find any record under my name.
I don’t think so because since you are an adult, the juvenile records might not be available. If you want to say that you have never had a ticket before or something like that you can take an extra step of going to court to get the judge to erase your juvenile records.

I conduct background investigations for a law enforcement agency on peace officer applicants & I get responses from the Department of Justice (DOJ) all the time that disclose juvinile arrests that people think we will never find out about. All law enforcement agencies report all arrests to the DOJ juvinile or not, if they fingerprinted you for your background check the record will come out. you are better off telling the truth, marijuana is a minor offense that should not cause you to fail a background investigation as long as there isn’t other stuff negative that they find that demonstrates a pattern of unsuitability for the position. Honesty is the best policy during a Background because I’m sure they had you fill out a history statement that you certify to be true, when they find out you didn’t tell the truth you just committed fraud and will automatically fail.
