How are so many products made from hemp in the US since growing marijuana plants is illegal here?
It is true that hemp, cannabis and marijuana all come from the same plant. However, how can American companies manufacture goods with hemp in them if the plants used to produce it are illegal to grow in the US?

I wish the US would end the embargo on Cuba and legalize marijuana. give me a thumbs down i dont care, me smoking marijuana doesnt affect you, so why do you care?
Many people grow them in planters in their basements and all that, so discusting.
Um, NO. Not all hemp comes from marijuana. Or at least, not the type you can get high off of. They’re actually “cousin” plants.
The problem with legalization is is that many modern “hemp advocates” are really “pot advocates” and don’t actually care about the practicality of hemp, they just want to get high.
They’re just so baked that they don’t realize that the rest of us can tell what they’re really after.
Um, first of all, if hemp is being grown for hemp, it ends up being a lot different than if it’s being grown for buds. Hemp isn’t going to get you high. It’s ditch weed. Hemp is encouraged to be seedy, etc. Weed for smoking comes from certain strains and is manicured to produce lots of flowers and no/few seeds.
Secondly, hemp oil and fabric and seeds are imported to the US from countries where it isn’t illegal, like Nepal.
