They are later consumed. Thanks for the free drugs!
Cops smoke it
The Feds have to make sure its pure, so they have one heck of a party. If its bad stuff, they have to recruit more agents. Whoever said that being a Fed wasn’t dangerous. They take life one line at a time.
Used in evidence at trial then burned.
supposedly the cops destroy it , but i wouldnt be surprised if they use it themselves or sell it or use it to set people up , cops can be scumbags just as easy as anyone else
It is usually stored sometimes as evidence.
Sometimes reused in undercover work.
The majority of the time it is burnt.
Ive seen footage of cops burning plantations of marijuana and standing around to smell it 😉
They are supposed to be taken to the evidence room to be locked up, usually until the trial. take your kid to work day is very interesting for the lucky offspring of law enforcement employees and lawyers. After the trial, the drugs can be disposed of, or the cops save them for various future uses.
However, sometimes dishonest cops/whomever else will steal it.
Or, for example, some cops smoke the weed they confiscate from scared stupid kids. No one will find out because the kids aren’t arrested, so there’s no need to write up a report about it which would have to include the amount of marijuana found in their possession. But these are rogue cops, and aren’t the norm.

Ever hear of D.A.R.E or it’s successor G.R.A.D.E sponsored by the police ? drug alcohol resistance education/ gang resistance and drug education?
They would show students all the different drugs from their evidence rooms (locked up in glass cases, obviously)
(I thought the oldschool acid blotters with the cartoon characters were the coolest thing ever)
You do realize the government is in the illegal drug business. Think of how boring it would be if they legalized marijuana. Most people would never go to harder drugs and then the cops would have to fight the real crime. Except when they make a big show of burning the marijuana they never seem to dispose of them. I’d love to be a fly on the wall in the evidence locker. The fly is just a analogy, I realize the Policemen reading this would kill that fly.
Drug evidence cannot even be checked out by officers once they submit it into evidence. Usually the PD assigns an officer (or officers) to bring the evidence, as needed, to court. After the case is closed, the drug evidence is destroyed. Seized money, cars, etc, if not returned to the defendant is kept by the department.
you’re trying to figure out why you are being charged with possession of ten ounces when you really had three pounds, aren’t you? Uh…….
Usually once narcotics are seized, they’re held for evidence in trial. After the person has been convicted, they’re usually given to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). The DEA will usually give out narcotics to some agencies to use for K9 programs (such as marijuana, not strong drugs that will possibly harm the dog’s nose). Excess narcotics the DEA usually destroys.
they save it up for the Policemans ball.
Got tickets?
Some goes home with the senior officers.A small amount is recycled and goes back into undercover cop agents hands for setting up drug deals.
The drugs are held in evidence until the court case is heard. After the case is heard, the judge will then decide if the drugs are to destroyed or held longer as Evidence in case of appeal. I have seen drugs held for five years or more on several cases. Most departments have a certified drug officer that handles and destroys Evidence of this nature when ordered. Some cops are dishonest but most are good officers who just have a job to do.
